Hubby's birthday cake...

I wanted to make a special cake for Biggsie for his birthday and I remembered a couple of months ago he had commented on a Meringue in Jamie Oliver's cookbook that he would like to try.  So on went the apron and out came all the ingredients... I was a bit worried that it wouldn't turn out the same, but to my surprise it worked. And it was very yummy. And Biggsie was very happy too.

Out of the oven...

Laura helped me melt the choc and add the pear juice...

Then came the layering of roasted hazelnuts, whipped double cream, pears and hot choc sauce...
